Where to start? Panic on a global scale. Who could have guessed?
First my Philippines live aboard dive boat and flights where canceled. Now my flights to Malaysia are canceled. Not entirely sure I can go anywhere.
Fortunately I'm in paradise at the moment. New Caledonia, a South Pacific paradise. No Corona has been reported here, so life seems almost 'normal' compared to home. Although I'm still struggling with the French menu's … at least its warm, the diving is spectacular and there's bikini's on the beach. Maybe I'll just stay awhile.
Why did Captain Cook ever leave? and leave it to the French ? what was he thinking?
I'm taking a Ferry to Iles des Pins tomorrow morning - an out island of New Caledonia. Planning a week of diving there. Maybe, just maybe some sanity will return to the world. But honestly, I think the panic and fear is so deep at these point - that's not likely.
What happens when fear is worse then the disease? The poor and innocent are crushed.
The economic impact of attempting to stop this virus does not feel worth the pain. Yes, that might not be a popular thing to say - but few are considering the loss of life in the poor countries. A hundred will suffer for every one in the wealthy countries. Just the way economics work. Not judgement, just food and water.
I'll likely be off the grid for a-bit. Not sure about WiFi on the out islands here. Searching for remote dive sites and blue waters. At least for the moments underwater - I'll forget the chaos of the planet.
